WHO WE ARE
A warm welcome awaits you at St Mary’s Church. Christians have been worshipping and praying on this site since Gunrada, the daughter of William the Conqueror, gave the chapel of Broughton to the Abbey of Shaftesbury.
Today we meet for worship every Sunday at 10.00am. On the first Sunday we have the St Mary’s Morning Service, a blend of liturgy and the informal, to suit all ages. On the next Sunday our service is called “Second Sundays”. It is a lively family service for all ages, starting with a gathering activity for children and moving on to action songs, puppets, and other creative worship ideas. We started this service in September 2008 and it is proving to be very popular indeed.
On the third and fourth Sundays we have a parish communion.
We have two homegroups meeting for bible study, prayer and friendship, and a meditation group.
We run social gatherings in the year including a supper with live band, and a harvest supper with barn dance.
We are very involved with St Mary’s school. We host some fun morning assemblies in our building. We put on “Eggsplore” for the children, a telling of the Easter Story with puppets and song, followed by an egg hunt in the churchyard.
