WHO WE ARE
At All Saints we worship in a small but picturesque church building, which dates from 1316 and is Grade 1 listed. Services from the Book of Common Prayer draw us to worship here in exquisite and peaceful surroundings. If this appeals to you too, or meets your need for traditional liturgy, please come and join us one Sunday and try us out.
We have a service each Sunday, comprising two Holy Communions, a Matins and an Evensong each month. We follow Common Worship lectionary and Collects in keeping with the rest of the Benefice. Our annual Carols by Candlelight service in December is one of the Christmas focal points within the Benefice, and usually fills the church to capacity.
If you need space and time for reflection, come to our Quiet Garden on the first Tuesday of every month (except January and August). There is a talk and opportunity to enjoy some peace in the church or the adjoining Manor gardens.
The church building is usually open every day for visitors, and for prayers, during daylight hours throughout the year. There are many features of interest from the original early Norman nave - with its uneven local limestone flags and unusual three-decker pulpit donated in 1675 - to the beautiful stained glass ‘Parable of the Sower’ in the adjoining chapel, erected in 1999 to the memory of Robert and Mabel Fuller who restored the church before and after the 1914 - 1918 War. The window celebrates the natural beauty of our parish.
The Tropnell Chapel includes a rare fifteenth century stone screen. It carries five painted coats of arms recording the Tropnell family marriages since the thirteenth century.
